Making of James Peris is the agent 00.5

“James Peris is the agent 00.5” was the first game of James Peris. It was developed with AGS 2.62 and the project started in January 2003. The idea was make a game based on the comic of the same title.

I made this comic in 1998 and at later of 2002 I discovered an application called AGS (Adventure Game Studio) with this software anybody could make a classic adventures like Monkey Island or Leisure Suit Larry. I love this kind of games and nothing makes me more illusion to make a game of my comic. When I knew AGS y started my project and two months later I had finished the demo  of the game (it finishes before travel to London). This demo was published at Febrary of 2003.

Then, I asked to my friend Mar Peris for help in the game script, he helped me with ideas and texts for the game. For these years I had been started my programmer studies in the high school and for it I hadn’t any problem to manage AGS software.

It was months of a lot of work, I was programming, drawing, animate and find music and sounds for the game. Some scenes I decided to present as a movie. To make this I used flash software and my hands to do hundreds of drawings.

Finally, the game was finished and was published in May of 2005, after one year and half of work. Although this was an amateur game, I was so happy to see the result, the project was finished OK and only two persons were involved in the development.

While we was making this game, we didn’t know about a second part, but when it was finished I started to think about this. I had learn a lot with AGS and I knew that I could be another game better than the first one.

There was a lot of work in making this game but I enjoined a lot doing it, if I had more people to help me, the game would be better. Fortunately, when I was starting the demo of James Peris 2, Carlos A. Marcé, a boy that had just played the game wanted to enter in the development group as a graphic artist, It was a great new, then I hadn’t too work and I could dedicate more time for programming and writting the scriprt. Anyway I discovered that Carlos was a great drawer and animator, I admit that he’s better drawer than me.

When we started the new project James Peris No Licence Nor Control, Alberto Rodríguez, a professional musician  offered to us to do the music of this new game. Now, with four persons, we started the new James Peris game, I think that it will be finished in 2009. We use another engine, better than AGS and more quality for this new game.
